Chinese automaker Leapmotor plans to produce up to four models at Stellantis' Spanish plant in Figueruelas near Zaragoza. As expected, production will start with the B10, followed by three additional models by 2027.
This was reported by the Spanish portal Forococheseléctricos, citing statements from Ding Yongfei, Leapmotor’s Global Quality Director. “We will produce the B10 and, by 2027, the B05, the A10, and the A05. In total, four models at the Stellantis Figueruelas plant,” the Chinese executive was quoted as saying in the report.
Production of the Leapmotor B10 at Figueruelas is set to begin in August 2026, with an initial annual volume of 40,000 units. This aligns with earlier information: earlier this summer, it was reported that production would start in the third quarter of 2026. While the first quarter had also been mentioned previously, Ding Yongfei’s recent statement confirms that the third quarter is the official timeline. The introduction of the remaining models will depend on the pace of the European market, as Forococheseléctricos reports. However, it is not ruled out that initial volumes could increase if demand requires.
Production in Spain is not merely about assembling parts imported from China. According to the statements quoted in the article, Leapmotor’s Ding made these remarks during the launch of Lieder Automotive, a new joint venture between the Chinese company Duoli Technology and the Basque automotive supplier Fagor Ederlan. Lieder Automotive is currently setting up production in a former Fagor Ederlan plant in Borja and will begin manufacturing the chassis for the Leapmotor B10 from July 2026, supplying it to the Stellantis plant near Zaragoza.
The Leapmotor B10 is a 4.52-metre-long battery-electric SUV positioned between the compact and mid-size segments. In Germany, models currently imported from China are available from €29,990, while the fully equipped version with the larger battery is priced at €33,990. The compact car B05 was unveiled in September at IAA Mobility and has already been launched in China under the model name Lafa 5. The A05 and A10 models, however, belong to the A-segment but are expected to be renamed for the European market—likely to avoid a trademark dispute with Audi over model designations featuring an ‘A’ followed by numbers. The A10 is expected to be sold in Europe as the B03X. The three additional models have not yet been priced for Europe but are expected to be cheaper than the B10.
There have been many rumours surrounding Leapmotor’s production in Spain, but with the establishment of the local supplier network and the new battery plant by Stellantis and CATL in the region, the project is now taking shape. When the first B10 models roll off the production line at Stellantis next year, they will not be the first Leapmotor vehicles produced in Europe: the small car Leapmotor T03 was previously assembled at Stellantis’s plant in Tychy, Poland, but production was discontinued.
