Sustainability Working Group - The Association of European Vehicle Logistics

The main focus of the Sustainability Working Group (SWG), which has been active since November 2019, is emissions calculation & reporting in Finished Vehicle Logistics (FVL) as this is gaining ever more importance at EU level and among car manufacturers.

The SWG is looking at all modes of transportation represented within ECG and its aim is to align LSPs and OEMs and agree on a standard way of calculating and reporting emissions in FVL.

Automotive supply chain emissions project

In February 2023 ECG started a project with VDA and other European OEMs. The project produced the first standard methodology for automotive supply chain emissions calculation and reporting. More information about the project here.

Ro-Ro GHG Emissions Guidance

In parallel to the above mentioned project, ECG co-operated with its members operating Ro-Ro ships and the Smart Freight Centre to develop a harmonised methodology for emissions calculation for the Ro-Ro segment. The project ran from February 2023 until July 2023. The final result can be downloaded below. The Guidance will be updated with regard to emissions factors in Q4 2023.
