Electric Vehicles State of Charge requirements

Electric Vehicles State of Charge requirements

ECG — 2023-07-13

News from ECG

Electric Vehicles have been high on the agenda of ECG’s Quality Working Group in the past years. One of the issues that the members flagged some years ago are the various requirements that OEMs have in terms of charging their Battery Electric Vehicles in the supply chain. Charge when? To what level? This is why a table was prepared in 2021 assembling this data from the OEMs. It was kept internal as a working document at first and then in the beginning of 2023, following the first Quality meeting of the year, it was updated.

Besides collecting the data for the OEMs, this new file now contains also the requirements of the shipping lines who operate PCTC vessels. This addition was necessary as, following the publication of the EMSA Guidance document for the transport of Alternative Fuel Vehicles in Ro-Ro spaces, many shipping companies started to impose a maximum state of charge level for the transported Electric Vehicles.

The assembled table is now available for download. It is important to note that the requirements laid down in there are subject to change over time, therefore please let ECG know if anything has evolved.

Note that this is a file for awareness raising only. The information received directly from the OEMs and shipping lines shall be considered as authoritative.

If you have any comments on this file or if you want to know more about the Quality Working Group, please let Szilvi Kiss know.
