The High & Heavy Defence Working Group was established in response to the growing importance of military mobility in Europe and the need for stronger cooperation between defence authorities and civilian logistics providers.
ECG recognised that its members already possess expertise, infrastructure and operational capabilities that can contribute to defence mobility. The Working Group provides a structured platform to monitor developments, consolidate knowledge and strengthen dialogue with NATO, EU institutions and national authorities.
Its scope includes mapping members’ capabilities, understanding defence requirements and regulatory frameworks, and identifying opportunities for cooperation. It also aims to make ECG members’ road, rail, maritime, terminal and multimodal expertise more visible to defence stakeholders.
Ultimately, the Working Group seeks to position ECG as a neutral facilitator and recognised industry counterpart, connecting the vehicle-logistics ecosystem with the evolving needs of European military mobility.
