News from ECG

In a period marked by ongoing market pressure, geopolitical uncertainty, and accelerating regulatory demands, the Finished Vehicle Logistics industry continues to operate in an increasingly complex environment. At the same time, expectations around sustainability, efficiency, and resilience have never been higher.

In this context, ECG remains a vital platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and representation of our sector. By bringing together stakeholders across the finished vehicle logistics value chain, ECG supports its members in navigating change and shaping practical, future-oriented solutions.

As we look back on 2025, it is important not only to recognise the challenges we face, but also to reflect on the progress we have made together. Throughout the year, the ECG community has once again demonstrated its ability to collaborate, innovate, and speak with a strong, unified voice.

Reflecting on 2025

Over the past year, ECG continued to strengthen its role as the leading European platform for finished vehicle logistics, building on the momentum of previous years.

We further developed our expertise and training activities, supporting members in understanding standards, guidelines, and regulatory requirements that are increasingly central to daily operations.

ECG advanced its work on sustainability and decarbonisation, refining emissions accounting approaches and continuing discussions around cost, investment, and environmental impact.

Our platforms for collaboration grew stronger, with focused initiatives addressing rail transport challenges, operational efficiency, and safety, as well as the exchange of best practices across markets.

At the same time, ECG remained highly active in advocacy and stakeholder engagement, ensuring that the voice of finished vehicle logistics was represented in key policy discussions at both European and international level.

None of this would have been possible without the continued engagement of our members, working groups, committees, and partners, whose expertise and commitment drive ECG’s impact.

Looking ahead: Strategic Objectives for 2026

As we move into 2026, ECG’s focus is firmly on strengthening value for members while expanding the association’s reach, relevance, and influence.

Our strategic objectives for 2026 place a strong emphasis on expertise and training, with a continued focus on delivering targeted programmes on standards and guidelines. These initiatives are designed to enhance operational excellence, and strengthen professional development across the finished vehicle logistics sector in Europe and beyond.

A key priority for the year ahead is the further development of an ECG knowledge platform, aimed at improving access to ECG Survey, business intelligence, sector insights, and shared expertise. By centralising knowledge and data, ECG seeks to support informed decision-making and greater value for its members.

In response to evolving market needs, ECG will launch a dedicated High & Heavy and Military Working Group. This collaboration space will bring together relevant stakeholders to address the specific operational, regulatory, and logistical challenges of high & heavy and military vehicle transport, while identifying opportunities for best practice and innovation.

The rail initiative will remain a central focus, as ECG continues to work with industry partners to improve rail capacity, efficiency, and coordination. Through targeted collaboration and dialogue, this initiative aims to support the development of a Handbook and the exchange of best practices.

The development of the Green Cost Calculator is aiming to support with more informed and balanced decision-making. By assessing the relationship between cost investments and emissions reductions, this project will help members evaluate sustainability measures in a practical and economically viable way.

Finally, ECG will advance its work on VIN label initiatives, with the goal of broader adaption of the standards.

Roadmap 2026 reflects ECG’s clear commitment to expanding its international representation, strengthening engagement with OEMs, and enhancing the visibility of the finished vehicle logistics sector. By broadening our press coverage and extending the reach of ECG’s business intelligence, we aim to reinforce our role as the voice of the industry, supporting members with insight, influence, and impact in an increasingly global and complex market.

I look forward to meeting many of you at our upcoming events and continuing our close collaboration throughout 2026.

Finally, I would like to thank you sincerely for your ongoing support and engagement with ECG. Your contribution is essential to the strength and credibility of our association.

Wishing you and your loved ones a peaceful holiday season and a successful 2026.
