Tesla is pausing production at its factory near Berlin amid slumping sales for the Model Y and a slowdown in Europe's EV market.
Tesla will stop production at its German factory for five days in June 2024 to improve processes in the factory outside Berlin.
Tesla will pause production in the vehicle production and powertrain areas of the plant in Gruenheide near Berlin on 7, 14, 17, 27 and 28 June 2024, a spokesperson said on Tuesday, 4 June 2024.
Tesla has already paused production at the site twice in 2024.
There was a one-day planned production shutdown in May 2024 while an arson attack in March 2024 stopped work for days.
The factory builds the Model Y crossover for European markets.
European sales of the Model Y fell 11% to 9,329 in April 2024 and were down 17% to 67,975 in the first four months, according to market analysts Dataforce.
The company is targeting around 400 job cuts at the Gruenheide factory, or about 3% of the plant's workforce amid the slowdown in Europe's EV market.
