Toyota will suspend some evening shifts at three plants in western Japan due to an approaching typhoon, the automaker said.
Toyota will suspend Monday 5 September night shift production and cancel Tuesday 6 September morning production at three factories in the western prefecture of Fukuoka.
The automaker expects to resume production on the Tuesday 6 September night shift, it said on its website.
Similarly, Nissan and Nissan Shatai subsidiaries in Fukuoka prefecture are expected to suspend production for Monday 5 September night and Tuesday 6 September daylight shifts, a Nissan spokesperson told Reuters.
Japanese authorities upgraded the intensity rating of the approaching typhoon from "strong" to "very strong" on Sunday 4 September afternoon.
Some businesses in South Korea are also contemplating temporary suspensions of operations as typhoon Hinnamnor approaches.
