Record attendance at the first yearly Eastern Europe Regional Meeting in Gdansk

The latest Eastern Regional meeting took place in Gdansk, Poland on 2023 April 27 kindly sponsored by Prilo and ROLFO. More than 60 ECG Members and Partners based in Central and Eastern Europe gathered for the first meeting of the year. 

Krzysztof Szeligowski, Chairman, opened the meeting and welcomed all attendees giving them an update of the market situation in Central and Eastern Europe. The meeting was very productive and participants engaged in an interactive discussion on many topics that were raised during the round table discussion such as capacity issues and inefficiencies, effects of Mobility package and driver shortage. High on the agenda of ECG is also the harmonisation of loaded length of car transporters to at least 20.75m at EU level in view of the revision of the Weights & Dimensions Directive in 2023.  

Andreea Serbu, ECG Senior Manager External Affairs, gave an overview and update on  ECG’s 2023 strategic objectives. These include the publication of the first Finished Vehicle Logistics (FVL) cost index and its updates in the coming years, emissions reporting standardisation and revision of the FVL forecast methodology. The update also concerned other active Working Groups and future events of ECG.  

Next on ECG’s agenda is General Assembly & Spring Congress taking place in Thessaloniki on 2023 May 11-12. Already more than 180 participants confirmed their attendance. The graduation of the current ECG Academy Course 16 will also take place in May. Registrations for the Course 17 are already open. We expect a full course and invite interested companies to contact us as soon as possible if they are interested in the course. More details are available here.  

The meeting continued with a social programme organised for the participants where they visited the Port of Gdansk and enjoyed a networking dinner.
