News from ECG

ECG's commitment to giving members the most accurate and comprehensive automotive-industry information continues through our partnership with ACEA:intelligence, the data-intelligence platform from ACEA.

ACEA:intelligence is the first European source of data insights from the automotive industry. It offers extensive automotive datasets such as vehicle registrations, emissions, fuel and resource consumption and vehicles in operation. Building on the collaboration announced last year, ECG members benefit from the latest, most reliable figures from the industry.

These datasets widen both the range and the detail of the information available to members. They are updated annually and cover, among other things: Vehicle registrations and fleet composition (BEV, PHEV, HEV), EU fleet by age group and CO₂ emissions, overall EU vehicle fleet size and EU imports and exports by value and volume.

Together with many other features, this gives members timely, accurate and reliable data to support their business.

A contrasted year for the European automotive industry

While the EU passenger car market kept growing in 2025 for the second year in a row, its figures remained significantly below the pre-pandemic sales levels, with some key markets even contracting (France -4.9%, Italy -3.2%). Battery-electric vehicles continued gaining ground at 17.6% market share, up from 13.6% a year earlier, but regional disparities have persisted, closely linked with the local level of government incentives.

Light commercial vehicles told a different story, as van registrations declined across the EU's three largest markets (France, Germany and Italy) with diesel still powering the vast majority of new registrations.
