MOSOLF Group — 2024-01-05

Members Corner

The MOSOLF Group is starting 2024 with a new strategic approach. At the beginning of the year, one of the leading system service providers in the automotive industry in Europe is undergoing extensive restructuring within its corporate structure. Various business units will be merged in order to streamline processes and make efficient use of synergy effects. In future, the activities will be covered by the two business units "Logistics & Services" and "Special Vehicles", supported by the new company "MOSOLF Port Logistics & Services GmbH".

The newly created "Logistics & Services" business unit is responsible for releasing, i.e. taking over vehicles at the end of production, and transport logistics. For this purpose, over 1,000 special transporters and two Ro-Ro inland vessels are available at 41 locations across Europe to offer customized, stable and sustainable concept solutions. Other service areas include location logistics, which covers all relevant service measures from vehicle storage to vehicle handover to the end customer, as well as retail solutions at over 70 locations, which offer tailor-made services for car dealerships and branches. Comprehensive technical and other services are also carried out at all MOSOLF locations, from optical vehicle refurbishments to technical vehicle repairs. The business unit will therefore cover the entire automotive logistics value chain in future: from the end of the line to the dealership or end customer.

The "Special Vehicles" business unit is a specialist in special vehicle construction in the areas of internal security, defense, civil protection and disaster control as well as for industry and municipalities. In addition to planning and prototyping, the business unit is also characterized by high-quality series production. To achieve the high standards, many important mechanical and electronic components are manufactured by MOSOLF itself, in some cases using innovative additive processes. Even after delivery, MOSOLF's highly qualified employees provide customers with comprehensive technical and service support.

The newly created business development company "MOSOLF Port Logictics & Services GmbH" (MPLS) is responsible for the three maritime locations of the MOSOLF Group, the ports of Cuxhaven, Wilhelmshaven and Zeebrugge. With the creation of MPLS, the Group is underlining the importance of its steadily increasing activities in the strategically relevant area of port logistics. Services for both importers and exporters are possible at the individual locations, in addition to short-sea shipping and deep-sea shipping. In addition to the MOSOLF Group's standard services, the port locations also offer comprehensive transport processing including ship loading and unloading.

"The restructuring of the business units, which will be completed at the beginning of 2024, is the result of a process that strategically positions the MOSOLF Group ideally for the future requirements of the industry. The use of existing synergy effects, which will also benefit our customers and partners, will also create new opportunities for innovation and integration," says Dr. Jörg Mosolf, CEO of the MOSOLF Group, commenting on the steps that have now been taken. "MOSOLF Port Logistics & Services GmbH also gives us further opportunities for action and services in the dynamically developing automotive logistics sector in the maritime environment," Dr. Mosolf continued.
