Audi is reducing production at its Brussels plant for at least two weeks due to component shortages.

Audi is "deciding from week to week" when production will return to full capacity, a company spokesperson said.

The Brussels factory builds the Q8 E-tron all-electric SUV. Its future is under threat as Audi reorganizes its global production network to reduce overcapacity.

Audi is considering shifting output of the Q8 E-tron to Mexico to boost sales in North America and possibly to China, a key market for the model, in 2027 when a successor is due, according to company sources.

The Q8 E-tron is currently the only model produced at the Brussels plant.

Audi said the automaker is examining options for what models the Brussels plant should produce and would provide further details after future planning rounds.
