News from ECG
The Eastern Europe Regional meeting took place on 8 September and for the first time in Romania. ECG Members and Partners based in Central and Eastern Europe gathered in Bucharest for the second meeting of the year.
Krzysztof Szeligowski, the newly appointed chairman, opened the meeting and welcomed the attendees. Around 30 participants discussed the market developments in this area of Europe. While volumes are still down, the industry is experiencing a capacity crunch. A roundtable took place discussing this and other issues impacting the business. These were for example the new rules on cabotage and posted drivers and drivers shortage.
Mike Sturgeon and Andreea Serbu gave an update on ECG’s working group activities. They highlighted the latest developments and next steps in the areas of quality, digitalisation, sustainability and health and safety.
Next on ECG’s agenda is the ECG Conference taking place in Vienna on 13-14 October. Record attendance is expected with already more than 200 registered. The agenda is excellent with speakers from the industry like VW and Toyota Motor Europe. Take a look here. Members and Partners can also already save the date for next year’s General Assembly taking place in Thessaloniki on 11-12 May.
The event continued with a walk around Bucharest guided by one of our local members. It ended with a networking dinner in the city centre of Bucharest at the traditional restaurant “Caru’ cu bere”.
Thank you to our partners Lohr sponsoring the meeting and NETWORK4CARS sponsoring the social dinner.
The next meeting will be in April 2023. The date and venue will be announced in due course. For more information about future meetings please contact Andreea Serbu.
