News from ECG
In 2023, ECG launched the ECG Survey website for the entire FVL sector, replacing the previously published ECG Survey book. The platform provides easy access to data covering the FVL and automotive sectors, and ECG continues to expand the range of available resources.
The ECG Survey website has now been updated with the October 2026 forecasts for vehicle sales, production, imports and exports, including country-by-country data. The data is provided by GlobalData, ECG's new data provider.
The collaboration with GlobalData provides ECG members with market intelligence to better understand developments in the vehicle logistics sector. The forecasts offer insights into automotive production and trade, helping companies plan their operations and respond to changes in global supply chains. Steadier sales, stronger production, and shifting trade flows
Compared with the February 2026 edition, the October forecast is more cautious about sales but more optimistic about production. Across the 34 European markets covered, passenger car and light commercial vehicle sales are expected to increase by up to 0.5% compared with 2025. However, the outlook varies significantly between markets.
Production is now expected to increase in 2026, rather than decline as forecast at the beginning of the year. However, Europe's largest vehicle-producing countries are still expected to record production volumes below their 2025 levels by 2030. These developments are also reflected in revised trade forecasts.
Imports of vehicles produced in Asia are expected to continue growing, although the latest forecast points to a sharper slowdown than previously anticipated. European exports are also expected to remain below earlier forecasts.
