A significant part of our CO2 footprint is caused by the use of fossil fuels in our transportation. Therefore, we put a special focus on the reduction of these emissions as an integral part of our sustainability strategy.
One important technology that is already available on the market is the use of HVO diesel. Hydrotreated Vegetable Oils (HVO) is a renewable fuel that can be produced from waste, fats, vegetable residues and vegetable oils. HVO can be used in diesel engines without technical conversion. According to the manufacturer, this 100% bio fuel reduces greenhouse gas emissions by at least 80% compared to regular diesel fuels.
This option is currently available to our drivers at the OMV stations in St. Valentin, Vomp & Villach as well as EuroTruck Wals and Unterer Kundl. A comprehensive expansion of HVO 100 Diesel at OMV locations in Austria will take place in 2024.
