Collaborative initiatives and innovative solutions lead way in reducing carbon footprint and boosting cost efficiency across supply chain.

Elain, the data emissions tracking company that began life as a Scania start-up, has announced a new collaboration to provide accurate CO2 insights for the major European automotive logistics firm Hödlmayr, who provide outbound deliveries of vehicles on behalf of some of Europe’s leading OEMs, including Scania Logistics.

The Elain Advanced emissions tracking tool will integrate CO2 insights for Hödlmayr High & Heavy in its haulage operations in Europe and Turkey. The onboarding of the Hödlmayr fleet of 120 trucks to the Elain Advanced service has already begun.

By using the Elain Advanced tool in its truck fleet Hödlmayr High & Heavy will be able to track their carbon footprint per order from fuel, customer and sub-contractor, providing customers with automatically collected primary emissions data.

Therefore, the new agreement will also help achieve greater transparency and efficiency in its own and its customers’ operations.

Replacing estimates and assumptions with data that comes directly from the source will in turn empower informed, data-driven decisions for effective decarbonisation and robust sustainability reporting by OEMs, especially under the indirect and more difficult-to-achieve Scope 3 emissions target in companies’ entire value chains. Elain is proud to support industry leaders like Hödlmayr and Scania Logistics in their pursuit of sustainability and cost efficiency. Our platform simplifies the monitoring and measurement of carbon emissions, facilitating the achievement of ambitious targets,” says Viet-Anh Pitaval, Head of Business and Co-Venture lead at Elain.

Helping -track emissions from fuel

Michael Wöckinger and Martin Steinkellner, both General Managers at Hödlmayr High & Heavy, welcomes the huge potential offered by the Elain Advance tool: “As an internationally active vehicle logistics provider, we are fully aware of our economic, ecological and social responsibility. With the consistent implementation of an effective sustainability strategy, we have developed clear goals and derivate concrete measures to reduce our CO2 footprint, calculated following GHG protocol, scopes 1-3. We are happy to get further insights from the Elain Advanced emissions tracking tool for our fleet operating in Europe and Turkey.”

The agreement also makes great sense for Scania as it strives to meet its ambitious goal of halving its 2016-level CO2 emissions from land transports by 2025.

We believe that by working together with our transport providers we can make significant improvements in reducing emissions throughout the supply chain. Elain has played a crucial role in simplifying data collection, providing us with valuable insights that make it easier for both Scania Logistics and our carriers to monitor and measure reductions effectively,” says Fabio Castello, Senior Vice-President of Logistics at Scania.

Growing industry interest in Elain

Since beginning life as a start-up from Scania’s Innovation Factory, Elain has been staking a claim in the future transport ecosystem, with its emissions tracking tool giving the transport industry a data precision that it has previously been lacking.

This latest customer announcement is a milestone for us. Now we’re seeing good traction for the customer and our business model makes sense, which is great. Elain shows that sustainability can make money while having a positive social, environmental and operating efficiency impact, too,” says Viktoria Kindesjö, Head of Product and Co-Venture Lead at Elain.
