Land transportation
Both GHG and air pollutant emissions from commercial vehicles account for a significant share of total emissions from the transportation sector. Promoting zero-emission commercial vehicles is of great significance for encouraging the early realization of the "carbon peak" and "carbon neutrality" goals in the transportation sector and improving air quality.
On 26 August 2022, during the 4th World New Energy Vehicle Conference (WNEVC 2022), SFC China, together with 26 institutions and companies, launched the Zero Emission Freight Initiative in China. The launch is part of the Zero Emission Medium and Heavy-Duty Vehicle Forum organized together with the China Automotive Engineers Association, and the Vehicle Emission Control Center of the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Science (VECC).
The launch event was attended by experts and representatives from domestic and foreign government departments, research institutions, enterprises, non-governmental organizations and other key stakeholders. Discussions included how to promote the innovation of zero-emission vehicle technology, accelerate the path and policy guarantee for the application of zero-emission vehicles and energy in the market, and exchange of zero-emission vehicles. The pilot demonstration of low-emission vehicles will build a consensus on the development of the industry and jointly promote the zero-emission transformation of medium and heavy commercial vehicles.
