Medway Portugal, the Portuguese rail freight subsidiary of MSC is launching a new service for AutoEuropa. The collaboration will last 10 weeks with five departures per week and will connect the AutoEuropa factory, south of Lisbon, with the port of Leixoes, south of Braga.

The first train left the AutoEuropa facility on Tuesday 13 December. As Medway said on LinkedIn, each convoy will carry 115 vehicles, for a total of 5,750. The facility is owned by Volkswagen and it is used for the production of the T-Roc model. It is not clear yet where the cars will be sent from the port of Leixoes.

Another Medway-AutoEuropa collaboration coming soon

Medway and AutoEuropa are working on another collaboration that is planned to be launched in the first quarter of 2023. This service will connect the car factory with Stuttgart, in Germany. A similar line was operated by DB Schenker on behalf of AutoEuropa, up until 2012, between Pampilhosa de Serra and Hannover.
