In an attempt to ease the burden on lorry drivers, the Tyrolean provincial government has announced the temporary lifting of the sectoral driving ban during construction work on the ROLA (Rollende Landstraße) railway infrastructure.
From 6 August 2023 until 23 August 2023, rail traffic on the ROLA will be suspended in both directions due to extensive construction work on the rail infrastructure, in particular on the Brenner north and south ramps.
The Tyrolean government has granted an exemption from the sectoral driving ban during the construction period. Truck drivers operating Euro VI vehicles with NOx emissions not exceeding 0.4 g/kWh will be allowed to drive through the affected regions without restriction.
The lifting of the sectoral driving ban aims to provide essential support to the freight industry, ensuring the smooth flow of goods and mitigating potential disruptions to supply chains. By allowing Euro VI vehicles to use the Brenner route during the construction period, the authorities aim to avoid unnecessary congestion on alternative roads and motorways.
The Tyrolean government advises all truck drivers to stay informed of any further updates or changes that may occur during the construction period.
