BCA has announced a further significant expansion at its Thurleigh, Bedfordshire facility, already one of the largest combined Remarketing, Logistics, Defleet and Refurbishment centres in Europe.

The operational facility at BCA Thurleigh has been expanded to cover a footprint of more than 200 acres, with the additional land providing hard standing for an additional 5,000 vehicles, as well as significant workshop capacity to host numerous additional technical and inspection services, along with a full suite of remarketing activities.

BCA also expect to create more than 100 additional jobs to support the increased volumes being managed through the site, along with further investment in technical training to support its extensive apprentice programme.

The Thurleigh facility is ideally located to support the automotive industry across the Midlands and the South, having excellent transport links and being strategically located just off the A6, north of Bedford.  With both BCA Automotive and BCA Logistics having significant bases at the centre, the expanded footprint will also allow improvements to be made to support inbound and outbound capability and improve the customer experience.

Stuart Pearson, BCA COO commented “BCA is handling growing volumes of vehicles this year and our latest investment in one of the largest remarketing and preparation centres in Europe will bring significant additional capacity in a strategically central location, allowing us to even better support the critical activities that the industry requires.”

He added “Investing in people remains a critical focus for us and the industry and the expanded operation will create significant employment opportunities at Thurleigh, with requirements spanning the full spectrum from skilled technical roles to support our vehicle workshop and preparation capability, through logistics and our remarketing services, along with further investment in our ever-expanding apprentice programme.”

Pearson concluded “The continued strength in the used vehicle market combined with a generally positive impact from new vehicle supply, continues to drive numerous opportunities for us to utilise our scale and expertise to create efficient solutions for our customers and drive performance in their businesses.”
