Freeport of Finland Ltd (Suomen Vapaasatama Oy), part of the Auto-Uuttera Group, and the City of Hanko have signed a new long-term land lease agreement for the Hanko Tulliniemi logistics area.
Over 70% of new cars sold in Finland are imported via the logistics area managed by Freeport of Finland. The area's location in Hanko Tulliniemi is optimal for car imports and the shipping line connections to mainland Europe are excellent. The area's center of expertise produces a wide range of vehicle logistics, vehicle customization and car taxation services for domestic and foreign operators in the vehicle industry. In addition to Finland, vehicles are delivered to e.g. the Baltic markets through the Tulliniemi logistics area.
"The multi-decade land lease agreement that has now been signed creates the conditions for us to further develop the area and thus support Finnish car imports in the long-term. Freeport of Finland will continue to invest in the area's infrastructure and services to ensure efficient and sustainable operating conditions for Finnish vehicle logistics well into the future," says Jens Ekqvist, Managing Director of Freeport of Finland.
"The Tulliniemi logistics area managed by Freeport of Finland is the largest and most gender-balanced workplace in Hanko. With the new land lease agreement, the City of Hanko can help ensure the long-term continuity of operations and contribute to Hanko remaining the most functional logistics route to the Finnish car market in the coming decades," says Petra Ståhl, Mayor of Hanko.
