Operations Quality Manual version 10 published

News from ECG

ECG is happy to announce that version 10 of the Operations Quality Manual (OQM) is now published and available in the original English language on the website. The idea of establishing common quality standards for the whole industry was born from a commitment shared by the Logistics Service Providers and the car manufacturers to improve operational efficiencies. The first edition of the OQM was published in 2008 after cross-industry discussions within the Quality Working Group. The manual has since been subject to constant evolution and is now in its 10th edition!

This last version of the OQM will soon be translated to the usual 10 languages so that the good practices for vehicle handling quality are even more easily accessible on the major European markets.

The novelty of the OQM version 10 is that it contains a standalone chapter on the transport of cars in containers.  The addition of the chapter was approved by the last Quality meeting which was held on 30 November in Brussels and online. The new chapter covers all types of containers and lashing methods. It has the same structure as the other chapters in the manual, namely before/during/after loading/unloading and it makes reference to inspection and training as well.

The new chapter is the result of the work of a dedicated small group which started developing it in the beginning of the year and was reviewing it at regular meetings. Members from Adampol, ANT, C.A.R Consulting, CEVA Logistics, CFR Europe, Grimaldi Group, HAROPA, Lotus Cars, Lucid Motors, Marine Logistic & Control, Neptune Lines, Noatum Automotive, Renault, Sevatas, Tokio Marine, Toyota, UCM Global, Volkswagen Konzernlogistik kindly contributed to the preparation of this document.
