The latest edition reaffirms the European automotive industry’s steadfast global leadership in R&D investment despite the continued uncertainty in the regulatory and geopolitical environment.
Once again, there was good news for vehicle emission reductions while energy and water consumption from production also decreased. Alternative power sources in new car, van, truck, and bus sales have also increased across the board.
Despite the ever-increasing pressure to compete with global actors over the past year, EU vehicular exports outstripped imports, generating a trade surplus growth of 5%.
The EU has also once again retained its top spot for the best road safety record globally, with road fatalities falling globally compared to our last report. The average number of EU road fatalities has plummeted by around a quarter since 2012.
