The annual Alumni gathering in Barcelona took place on 8-9 February. It was another successful event which attracted approximately 100 participants and marking the 11th consecutive year of the meeting.
The event kicked-off on 8 February with a walking dinner, providing participants with an opportunity to network in an informal setting. The main meeting took place on February 9, featuring an engaging agenda and excellent speakers.
ECG Executive Director, Mike Sturgeon opened the meeting by welcoming all Alumni and highlighting the importance of the network which now boasts more than 300 Alumni.
Filippo Rizzi Ariani, chair of the ECG Academy Advisory Group (EAAG), presented the activities of the EAAG, whose primary objective is to foster the Alumni network. Elections of the new EAAG members for 2024-2026 were also held. Elections for new EAAG members for 2024-2026 were also held, with the EAAG expanding its composition to 11 members, including 4 new additions.
Andreea Maria Serbu, Senior Manager for External Affairs at ECG, presented the organization's 2024 roadmap and strategic objectives. The session concluded with elevator pitches from the ECG Academy Course 17 participants, presenting project ideas on various topics of interest for the sector.
The second part of the meeting continued with Hilke Steffens, ECG Academy Senior Trainer, giving a keynote on supply chain financing and factoring and its application in the finished vehicle logistics (FVL) industry.
The meeting ended with a panel discussion moderated by Tom Antonissen, Executive Director at the European Parking Association. Panelists from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Logistics Service Providers (LSPs) explored market outlooks, discussing challenges and opportunities for the vehicle logistics sector arising from new automotive players entering the European market. The panelists gathered views from OEMs with Lucien Limburg, Lucid Motors and Kris Schildermans, Volvo Cars. Neringa Jasiulioniene, Manvesta illustrated the current challenges for LSPs and specifically truck operators. Frank Schnelle, ECG Executive Director Designate joined the panel discussion giving hints on how ECG could further support its members in such a scenario.

The ECG Academy Alumni meeting is organized every year for all Alumni who attended the ECG Academy. More than 300 alumni obtained this one-of-a-kind Certificate in Automobile Logistics Management.
